How do I set the time on a Raymarine HybridTouch eS multifunction display?

My Raymarine HybridTouch eS display is showing the wrong local time. Where do I change the clock, and do I need to adjust it separately for summer time?

Boat type: any boat with a Raymarine eS multifunction display. Topics: Marine electronics, Chartplotters, Time and date settings.

Answer

On a Raymarine eS running LightHouse II, open Home screen → Customise → Time and Date, then adjust Local Time: UTC to your local time zone. The display normally gets its time from GPS, so you change the UTC offset rather than enter the hours and minutes.

Check software and clock error

Compare the displayed time with a reliable clock and note whether the difference is an exact number of hours. A clock exactly one hour out usually needs a summer-time adjustment. An incorrect date or a clock that never updates needs a different check.

The eS75, eS77, eS78, eS97, eS98, eS127 and eS128 belong to the HybridTouch eS family. HybridTouch describes the touch-and-button controls, not the software version. These displays came with LightHouse II, but some have since been upgraded to LightHouse 3, which has a different menu layout.

The steps below apply to LightHouse II. If your Home screen has a Settings cog and looks different, check the installed LightHouse version in the display's system information, then use its time/date settings. Make menu changes while safely moored or with another person keeping watch.

Set LightHouse II local time

  1. Press Home to leave the chart or other application and open the Home screen.
  2. Select Customise.
  3. Open Time and Date.
  4. Select Local Time: UTC and change the offset to match your location and the season.
  5. Set Time Format to either 12hr or 24hr.
  6. Set Date Format to DD:MM:YY for day/month/year, or MM:DD:YY if preferred.
  7. Return to the chart and check the displayed clock against your reference.

Use either the touchscreen or the physical controls to operate the menus. On LightHouse II, the local time adjustment runs from −13 to +13 hours in half-hour increments. For example, +1.0 adds one hour to UTC, while −5.0 subtracts five hours.

Switching between 12-hour and 24-hour format changes only how the clock is shown. It will not correct a wrong time-zone offset.

Choose summer and winter offsets

For ordinary UK cruising, use these settings:

  • UK winter, Greenwich Mean Time: UTC +0.
  • UK summer, British Summer Time: UTC +1.
  • Mainland France, Germany and Denmark in winter: UTC +1.
  • Mainland France, Germany and Denmark in summer: UTC +2.
